Mr. Yang Guilin was born on August 8, 1950. He is now the deputy-director of Science and Technology under the government of Dalian City, the director of Experts Service Center in Dalian, the  secretary-general and artificial person of Dalian Eminent Professional Association He organized demonstrations and planning with academicians in Dalian of the two academies and other excellent experts participating on the construction of Light-Track Railway, the new Railway Station in Dalian and the first Underwater-Viewing Boat.

Introduction to Prof. Zhao Guofan

Zhao Guofan is a professor and an advisor of doctoral candidates of the Department of Civil Engineering, Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, China, as well as an academician of China Academy of Engineering. He was born in January 1925 in ShanXi Province, and graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University as a structural engineer in 1949.

Prof. Zhao has been the editor of “Journal of Civil Engineering”， “Journal of Hydraulic Engineering” and“The International Journal of Cement Composites and Light Weight Concrete”. Now he is an editor for seven journals , such as “Journal of Building Structures”,“Engineering Mechanics” and “Harbor Engineering”. He is serving on more than ten academic committees as a member, a director or chairperson, including director of China Society of Civil Engineering, Chairperson of China Fiber Reinforced Concrete Association, an executive member of Prestressed Concrete Society, and a member of International Committee of Concrete Model Code for Asia. Prof. Zhao has been active in the organization or scientific committee of more than 20 international conferences. He has been invited to give lectures at many universities in Switzerland, Thailand, Japan, U.S.A., Czechoslovakia，Singapore and Hongkong. Also, he is an advising professor for 25 other universities and institutes in China.

Prof. Zhao has participated in developing six designing and construction codes for reinforced concrete structures of hydraulic and harbor engineering as well as steel fiber concrete. He has solved many key technical problems related to National Projects. He has more than 300 publications dealing with properties of concrete, reinforced and prestressed concrete, structural safety, fiber reinforced concrete, fracture mechanics of concrete, ferrocement structures, limit state design method, high performance concrete, lightweight concrete, and roller compacted concrete. He is the author or co-author of 12 works including“Reliability of Engineering Structures”, “Ultimate State Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures”, “Research on SFRC and Its Applications”, “Crack Control of Reinforced Concrete Structures”,and “Finite Elements Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Structures”.
